Weight — Support
One person makes Weight, and that same person answers your email. Here are the questions that come up most; if yours isn't below, just write to me.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need iCloud?
Yes. Weight stores every measurement as a file in your own iCloud Drive, so it needs you signed into iCloud with iCloud Drive turned on. If you see an "iCloud Required" screen, check Settings → your name → iCloud, then reopen the app.
How do I connect my scale?
Open Weight and tap to pair when prompted, then step on your Bluetooth smart scale so it wakes and starts advertising. Once it's paired, Weight reconnects to it automatically — just step on the scale and your weigh-in is recorded the moment the reading settles. The currently supported scale is the Etekcity ESF-551.
My scale isn't being found.
Make sure Bluetooth is on, the scale has fresh batteries, and you're standing next to it. Step on (or tap) the scale to wake it, since most scales only advertise for a few seconds while active. If it still won't appear, fully close Weight and reopen it, then try again.
Can I use pounds instead of kilograms?
Yes — choose kilograms or pounds under Display Units in the app's Settings. It changes how every weight is shown.
Where do body fat and muscle come from?
From your scale. When your smart scale measures body composition, Weight records body fat, muscle mass and BMI alongside the weight and shows them on the home screen and in each measurement's detail. If your scale only measures weight, those simply don't appear.
How do I back up, move, or delete my data?
Your measurements are files in your iCloud Drive, so they're backed up with your iCloud account and follow you to a new device automatically. Weight also has a built-in backup & restore in Settings. To remove a measurement, delete it in the app or remove the file in the Files app — it clears everywhere it synced.
