Quick Recall — Support

One person makes Quick Recall, and that same person answers your email. Here are the questions that come up most; if yours isn't below, just write to me.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need iCloud?

Yes. Quick Recall stores every crate, photo and note as files in your own iCloud Drive, so it needs you signed into iCloud with iCloud Drive turned on. If you see an "iCloud Required" screen, check Settings → your name → iCloud, then reopen the app.

How do the labels work?

Every crate gets a QR label with its name and a short ref number like B001. Print it from the crate's Print Label action — a live preview shows exactly what will print for the selected paper size and orientation. Stick the label on the crate; later, scan it with the Scan tab (or your iPhone camera) and the crate's photos and notes open instantly.

Which printers are supported?

Any AirPrint printer, plus Bluetooth thermal label printers. Pair a thermal printer under Settings → Label Printer; once paired, it appears alongside AirPrint in the print sheet. Paper size, copies and orientation are remembered between prints.

What are locations and ref numbers?

Locations are the places crates live — Basement, Garage, Kitchen — each with a short prefix code. Crates are numbered automatically under their location's prefix (B001, B002, K001…), so a human can find a crate from the label alone. Moving a crate to a new location assigns it a fresh number there and offers to print a new label.

Why can't I scan the QR code with another phone?

Labels use an app-only link (quickrabbit://…) that opens the crate in Quick Recall on a device where it's installed. There's no public web page behind it — your inventory is private to your iCloud account.

How do I back up, move, or delete my data?

Your inventory is files in your iCloud Drive, so it's backed up with your iCloud account and follows you to a new device automatically. Quick Recall also has a built-in backup & restore in Settings — backups are single files you can share or store anywhere. To remove something, delete it in the app — it clears everywhere it synced.

Still stuck?

Found a bug, have a question, or wish for a feature? Email [email protected] — I read everything personally. Tell me which device (and label printer, if printing) you're using and what happened, and I'll help.
